Socksess!

Possibly one of the proudest moments I've had in recent memory was the finally final completion of my stupendous first pair of socks, the ones that I started seemingly decades ago (last January).  Drum roll please...........TaDa!!!

Okay okay, so I haven't posted about a knit in a long long time....feeling a bit rusty here.  I bought this yarn at Jo Ann Fabrics.  It's some silly self striping acrylic nonsense.  I was wary to commit to a nicer yarn considering I wasn't sure I would ever make it through the whole project (rightfully so).  Truthfully, I absolutely adore the colorway and pattern of the yarn.  It has a bit of Pendleton aesthetic to it, but for a much much cheaper price.  I like.

Here are my sentiments about sock knitting.  It's a total love/hate relationship I'm experiencing here.  I hate knitting socks.  I love owning hand knit socks.  Humm.   What on earth is a girl to do?

I know this may sound crazy, but I'm literally head over heels for these socks.  Is that to punny?  I've been wearing them far too often.  I swear they're being washed, at times. They're also very slippery.  Have I mentioned my affinity for sliding from one room to the next across our hardwood floors?  It's a thrill I cannot deny.  I'm a child at heart.

Speaking of child at heart, how fun and fantastically colorful is this new pannier set that I recently picked up from Swift Industries in Seattle, Washington?  I was absolutely ecstatic to stumble upon this company a few short weeks ago.  Long have been the days I've searched for a unique, attractive, yet still practical pair of saddle bags for my trusty steed.  These bags are durable, crafty, stylish, sexy and you get to choose your own color combination!

I absolutely love them.  I can't wait to potentially take them bike camping next summer.  Until then, they happily come with me to and from work, to the grocery store, and just generally up and down the expanse that is Portland.

In other news, I've been working diligently on my ever blossoming illustrative career.

I've posted tons and tons of original illustrations in my etsy shop!  They're on SUPER SALE!!!  Grab them while they're available, and just in time for the holidays.  I'll be posting more paintings in the next few days, so keep checking back.  Don't wait until it's too late!
Of course, if you're of lesser means and would like to buy a print, please head over to my Society6 page and help yourself.  Lucky you, there's free shipping thru Sunday! What are you waiting for?!

Finally, here's a sneak preview of something I've been working on for the last several weeks, off and on.

This is only a snippet of what's to come.  I can't wait to see the finished project.  This might start a whole new era in the art of Brooke Weeber.  Who ever thought dioramas would be so fun?  And who could have known that making tiny cuts with an exacto knife for hours on end would be such a soothing exercise?  Well I, for one, am pleasantly surprised loving it.

  2. I am having bike envy! Those paniers are so great. Oh, they fun you'll have with them.
And I am feeling your sock pain. I have been 2/3 finished with sock 2 of a pair and what with holiday knitting, don;t imagine I'll be finishing it before Dec. 31. Ugh.
