I'm knitting again. This isn't holiday egg nog induced crafting, either. These latest projects have been for me, and me alone. Maybe that's what's supposed to happen when you're reintroducing yourself to a somewhat neglected favorite hobby. Either way, I'm excited and working again, and I'll just keep telling myself that as I happily create garments and accessories for the hardest working person I know. ME!

Ok, so everyone and they're moms are making this cowl, but there's a reason for that. It's simple! It's gorgeous! It's delicious!
Not only is it completely drool worthy, it's easy peasy. It only took me two indie romantic comedies to complete. Watch films, knit cowl, pull cowl around neck, stretch over the eyes to hide one's face from the cruelties of love:
Haha, I kid, I kid. Who needs romance, when you've got Malabrigo? My obsession is quite possibly out of control. Is there a Malagrigo's Anonymous Group somewhere? I need help. (I have another Malabrigo project in the works. Gulp.)
I know that Christmas is coming, like a freight train through the fog. But I keep trying to ignore the deafening sound of it. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays. I relish in the excessive indulgence. I love the lights strung about people's porches. I especially enjoy stuffing my fattening face. But I can't seem to get into the gift giving spirit this year. I'm in complete and terrifying denial. Normally, by now, I've made 5 scarves and 8 hats. I'm just not in the right space to make gift after gift after gift! So....instead, I'm just pretending it doesn't exist. I'm working. And I'm working some more. And, as usual, I can't wait to share with you what I've been working on. Unfortunately, now is not the time. Now is the time to get back to working. Be still my panic.
I did make a momentous two day trip to the beach to take a deep breath and remind myself that I'm still human, at least most of the time.
I love this place.

Love the cowl! Malabrigo is a drug, you know.
ReplyDeleteDon't sweat it. I am not knitting for anyone this year. I don't want to pawn off my favorite hobby off to unappreciative people. They like their bought gifts better.
If Malabrigo is wrong, I don't want to be right.
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty cowl, perfect for a bikeriding babe!
ReplyDeleteAt their best, holidays are fun and inspiring; at their worst, they are oppressive. Vive le sellfish knitting, I say. And Vi le Malabrigo! Have you tried their new yarn, Rios? Oh, yeah.
This has made me want to go out and buy more malabrigo (there is ONE place in my town that sells it and I can never drag my butt over there it seems...) I love how your cowl turned out in it!
ReplyDeleteThe cowl is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is totally okay not to be in the mood to knit a zillion things for other people. Maybe one day in the future you'll be in the mood to do that again, but for now, I hope you enjoy knitting for yourself!
Ahhhhh! I love that cowl! Maybe a last minute gift for mi madre! You have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteamazing cowllllll. make all of your gifts early. you will so excited to give them away at the end of the year. i hate buying gifts, but i love making them :-)
