Hello friends. I'm back with another knit hat report. Here I present to you the Improv Hat, round two. Remember the first? This time I used up a portion of my overwhelming stash of malabrigo yarn. And since I didn't have quite enough, this hat is a bit shorter than the previous. But don't you just love the colorway? I don't normally wear a lot of purple, but for this, I'll make an exception. Plus, don't you feel like a rock star when you use up some yarn that's been sitting around for (maybe) years?! I do.
Also, in an attempt to take better photographs, I requested that my adorable roommate model this new purple cap. Another valuable reason? I spent all of last week being sick and dumpy and my nose is a red crusty mess. Nobody needs to see that. Nobody.I'm working out ways to take brighter photos of all of my work, including my illustrations, which are still in a rough state. I love big, brilliant colors, and my house is a bit of a dungeon. Dark walls and very little lighting, so everything turns comes out tinted blue. Therefore, I've moved my photo studio outside.
I like the resulting change to my knit garment images. Much clearer and more distinctive.
Here's a picture that I shot of the newest item recently added to my etsy store.
My new Thank You card is now available in the Little Canoe shop. This festive card makes a perfect thanks for any occasion. I really love how the hand drawn lettering turned out. Adds a really unique touch to the artwork, don't you think?
The pictures are still a bit dark, but a huge improvement on some of my previous photos. I'll try to brighten them up even more next go-around.
I'm toying with the idea of making card packs containing 8 to 10 cards and envelopes in each at a discounted rate. What do you think? Then, perhaps next, I'll do some "You're Invited" cards. It's about time to get ready for wedding season, is it not?
I received a really exciting package in the mail the other day!
MOO cards! I know how dorky it is to be so thrilled about getting business cards delivered to your door, but I don't care. These little guys are perfect little representations of my artwork, and you can keep them in your wallet!
I can't wait to hand them out to everyone. Hopefully, since I adore them so much, I'll remember to keep some with me at all times.
LOVE
My "Coffee Tastes Better" print was added to a lovely collection on Society6 and I thought I would share it with you. Sometimes I forget about that website and I need a gentle reminder. So when I got the email that my artwork had been chosen, I was more than pleased. The compilation is called Design Milk Dairy. Check it out here.
One more bit of enthusiasm......this morning I sensed that Spring was in the air. I know we still have months of rain and sogginess ahead of us, but it was a nice gesture, nonetheless. Thank you, Mother Nature.
Birds were chirping and the sun was peaking ever so slightly through the gray, it was practically perfect.
I hope you're able to get outside for a spell this weekend. The rain has started up again here in Portland, so it appears that my chances are over for the time being. Until next time!

Hey, I know that girl... and I LOVE those little business cards... and camellias... and the art is fabulous as usual!
ReplyDeleteEverything you do is just wonderful! I hope to order some of your prints very soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the art love! And aren't the little budding flowers wonderful! I hope it doesn't freeze again.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the wet PNW is the fact that flowers often have a bloom in February and March. It's a reminder that spring will most definitely come.
ReplyDeleteIn re: bad lighting. I feel you! Have you considered a light box? I think it would work well for most of your artwork/knitting porjects.
Cute hat! And I love the new thank you card. It rocks!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your little business cards! I want one!

Getting business cards in the mail is totally exciting! They look great.
ReplyDeleteI agree - your roommate is adorable :) Your Improv hat looks to be a good length, despite the lower-yardage-count. The colours are fantastic.
I can't wait to hear some birds; I feel it coming on soon! I think the robins are returning.
